Where’s that clone?

Cuz someone needs to go to work for me so I can remain in my comfy home and knit and spin and not talk to people.

Alas, that’s prolly not going to happen. I passed on a Craig’s List loom recently because the idea that I’d have MORE things I wanted to do that I didn’t have time for – just too depressing. Don’t get me wrong – I love that I have interests and pursuits that capture my attention and keep me scheming and plotting (thank you, Spring Twist Collective!). I just don’t have the time in my life to learn a new thing. I will weave, just not right now.

What I AM doing right now is brain-free knitting. Well, sorta. I admitted to myself that the ASCnH is not transit-knitting any longer and left it at home. (Need to get on it – I want to wear it at the beach, so I have 11 weeks plus a little.) I dug out the second Monkey from a million years ago, and I started counting, figuring and knitting. I had to rip the first toe attempt for too few stitches and too small a needle. (Of COURSE I didn’t write these things down.) I also discovered in the course of looking for this information that I did a Wendy’s Toe-Up Heel Flap on the first one, screwing up so that the heel is ribbed looking rather than eye of partridge. (This saddens me because this yarn would be perfect for EoP but I’m not ripping a completed sock to fix it.) Anyway, Monkey is nice and simple and addictive and it feels good to knit again.

I have my cupcakes from Joan, and they are gorgeous. I can only pet them. I was going to show you all, but since this project may be beyond my skills as a spinner and could conceivably end up as crackers, I’m not sharing yet. (Also, these need better photography than “after work one night with my phone’s camera” so I’ll need T to photo them for me.) I plan to start working it soon, but I think I will keep the in-progress to myself for a bit.

And finally, it’s hot. I keep the blinds mostly closed to keep the heat down. Some residents of the house feel that this limits their access to sunbeams.

I do the same thing with socks. I always tell myself to write down the specs, but then I say "oh no, I'll remember!" So it's a crap shoot, but as long as they fit, what does it matter if they're not exact?!?

I finally, FINALLY finished the first sock in the pair I'm doing. Hope I can make the second one match.

Awwr, kitty sprawl! Supposedly all house cats are descended from some desert cat species, which is why they like things WARM. My cat's just happy to have a sunny day once in a while.

I really like that blue, so pretty! Damn, now I've got an urge to monkey myself.

I feel the same way about weaving & spinning. More things I'm not able to get to even though I want to? sigh.

    Love the blue socks!
I've thought of getting started weaving too but like you have no time for anything extra. And I can't let the house get in any worse shape than it already is… o.0
Toasted kitty! Looks like he is happy with the new home too. 🙂

Maybe it really is like that terrible Dairy Queen commercial where the dqlones just keep making more of themselves and eat DQ.

I hope the mindless Monkey helps you cope with the heat.

Yeah, I'd try a clone, but then I'd probably just have to kick her off my spinning wheel. And I'd still end up the one going to work. *sigh*

Oh yeah, I know that tune. loom, needles, wheel, punch needle, hooks, I got 'em. Wise woman to pass on loom for a bit. 😀 But if you figure out that clone business….let me know.
